This just gets funnier and funnier!!! This is the latest on the Limewire Saga: LimeWire Asks “Pirate Edition” to “Cease and Desist” Days after a secret team of developers release a version that removes “all dependencies on LimeWire LLC’s servers” LimeWire Inc. issues a demand that “all persons using the LimeWire software, name, or trademark in order to upload or download copyrighted works in any manner cease and desist from doing so. LimeWire Inc. has learned of the release of the new LimeWire Pirate Edition and is apparently not amused in the least. Last month U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood issued an injunction ordering LimeWire to disable the “searching, downloading, uploading, file trading and/or file distribution functionality, and/or all functionality” of the famed file-sharing program. The injunction follows LimeWire’s loss to the RIAA this past May where Judge Wood determined the company had committed copyright infringement, engaged in unfair competition, and induced others to commit copyright infringement, LimeWire complied with the ruling, but less than two weeks later a self-described “horde of piratical monkeys” released a new LimeWire Pirate Edition that rendered the efforts of both the RIAA and LimeWire meaningless. “All dependencies on LimeWire LLC’s servers have been removed, all remote settings have been disabled, the Ask toolbar has been unbundled, and all features of LimeWire PRO have been activated for free,” said a source. It was inevitable that LimeWire would learn of the the new Pirate Edition, and in a statement on its site it puts out a general warning asking the people responsible to “cease and desist” from using the LimeWire trademark in order to upload or download copyrighted material. “We demand that all persons using the LimeWire software, name, or trademark in order to upload or download copyrighted works in any manner cease and desist from doing so,” it says.

Firefox Plugin Redirects to Mirrors of Seized Sites
Monday Apr 18, 2011
Monday Apr 18, 2011
If govt seizes a site alleged to infringe copyright, browser plugin automatically redirects users to the new mirror site.
Just when you thought the game of whac-a-mole between copyright holders, govt, and file-sharers couldn’t get any more ingenious, along comes the new MAFIAAFire plugin for Firefox. The plugin is a response to US’ Immigration and Customs Enforcement “Operation in Our Sites” domain seizure campaign which has so far seized nearly 100 sites. The problem with the seizures for many, aside from the fact that none were given advance notice or the opportunity to defended themselves in court, is the fact that a number of them were quite legal in the country where they were hosted. In the case of TorrentFinder.com that includes right here at home. Now seized sites are still accessible by IP address of course, but as points out it it’s “easier to remember Google.com rather than an IP address.” The way it works is that it allows you to “un-censor illegally taken down domains.” It maintains a list of URLs and their mirror sites so that if or when ICE seizes a domain the plugin will take you to the new site without you even noticing. “You simply type Demoniod.com into your browser as usual, the browser sends the address to the add-on, the add-on checks if Demoniod.com is on the list of sites to be redirected and immediately redirects you to the mirror site,” it says. “This happens in microseconds and completely transparent to you (the user).” So even if the govt does manage to pass the controversial Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) which would speed up the process of domain seizures, would render the legislation meaningless. “We control the redirection _before_ (and this is important) the browser tries to connect to the DNS server,” it adds. “Whatever blocks, notices, threats, etc ICE or anyone else puts up at the DNS level is as worthless as the IFPI/RIAA/MPAA to mankind.”Saturday Mar 19, 2011
How to uninstall Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Saturday Mar 19, 2011
Saturday Mar 19, 2011
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) contains many updates to improve Windows 7, but if you encounter a problem with hardware or a program after installing the service pack, you might want to temporarily uninstall it to troubleshoot the problem.
Note
If you installed SP1 yourself, you can uninstall it. However, if your computer came with SP1 already installed, it can't be uninstalled.
The easiest way to uninstall SP1 is using Programs and Features.
-
Click the Start button , click Control Panel, click Programs, and then click Programs and Features.
-
Click View installed updates.
-
Click Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB 976932), and then click Uninstall.
If you don't see Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB 976932) in the list of installed updates, your computer likely came with SP1 already installed, and you can't uninstall the service pack. If the service pack is listed but grayed out, you can't uninstall the service pack.
-
Click the Start button , and then, in the search box, type Command Prompt.
-
In the list of results, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
-
Type the following: wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:976932
-
Press the Enter key.
If you've used Disk Cleanup since installing SP1, the backup files needed to uninstall the service pack might have been deleted from your computer. To remove the service pack, you'll need to reinstall Windows 7. For installation information, see Installing and reinstalling Windows 7.

Delete print job in Windows XP and Vista
Monday Feb 28, 2011
Monday Feb 28, 2011
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERSAnd delete everything inside this folder. DO not delete the folder itself, just everything inside of it. This will remove all print jobs currently in the print queue. Step 3: Now go back to the Services window and right click on the Print Spooler service and choose Start. Go back to the Print Job queue and refresh it. You should now see that all print jobs have been removed and you can start printing again normally. “Stalled Printer Repair” very useful. It does the same thing, but without having to remember how to do it manually! Works fine on XP and Vista, and can be carried around on a USB stick. It’s here: http://www.fantasticfreeware.com/applications/stalled-printer-repair/

Stop Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications
Wednesday Dec 01, 2010
Wednesday Dec 01, 2010
RemoveWGA will enable you to easily remove the Microsoft “Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications” tool, which is calling home and connect to Microsoft every time you boot. Updates of this notification tool will setup the connection rate to Microsoft once every two weeks.
The developer of this utility argues that this tool is not a crack/hack,Once the WGA Notification tool has checked your OS and has confirmed you had a legit copy, there is no decent point or reason to check it again and again every boot.He adds that connecting to Microsoft after every boot brings security issue for corporate networks and privacy issue for everyone. RemoveWGA only removes the notification part, phoning home, and does not touch the Validation part.
RemoveWGA – Features
- Tells you if the WGA notification tool is active on your system
- Allows you to remove the WGA notification tool from your system
- Accepts the “-silent” command line parameter to silently check if the WGA notification tool is active on your system, and popup only if it is found (useful for checking automatically at startup for instance)

Removal Instructions for ThinkPoint
Wednesday Nov 10, 2010
Wednesday Nov 10, 2010
Here’s a step by step on how to delete it, you might want to print this off Start up your comp with 'safe mode with networking' you so this by shutting down your comp and switching it back on and constantly pressing f8 until you come to a screen that has options and you select 'safe mode with networking' By doing this the virus can't interfere with what you are doing. The page will load up (1-2 mins) and then you will log on as usual (the screen might be bigger and look different, this is fine) (if you can't get on safe mode just do it on normal mode) IMPORTANT: AS SOON AS YOU LOG IN go on task manager quickly (ctrl alt delete) then go on processes and search for 'hotfix.exe' and end process Then go on file, new task and type in ‘explorer.exe’ to get to the internet, (If an error message comes up then instead type in 'C:\Windows\explorer.exe" /G Everyone:F' enter that then try 'explorer.exe) Now download this, to scan your computer. It’s the best virus remover you can get for free http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebyt… (If link doesn't work type 'malware' in the search box and click on the first one ''malware bytes'') It’s a reputable website that my internet company uses and this has helped me tons of times before. Download it and run it (it’s free) (you might have to disable your pop up blocker at the top of the screen when downloading) Perform quick scan (should take 10 to 20 mins) View results Remove all (CLICK NO TO RESTART COMPUTER) Go on quarantine (4th from the right column) Then delete all Then restart your comp Good luck :) This is from another source
ThinkPoint graphical user interface |
The application taskmgr.exe was launched succesfully but it was forced to shut down due to security reasons. This happened because the application was infected by a malicious program which might pose a threat for the OS. It is highly recommended to install the necessary heuristic module and perform a full scan of your computer to exterminate malicious programs from it.However, there is a way to disable this virus. After the ThinkPoint screen loads push the command CTRL+ALT+DELETE quickly. This will bring you to task manager. Open the tab called Processes, find the process hotfix.exe and end it. The rogue program should be gone now. Next, you need to bring your Desktop and taskbar back. While in task manager go to File and select "Run new task". Type explorer.exe in the open box. This will bring back Windows explorer. More detailed instructions are given below. At this point you should be able to download anti-malware software which will remove ThinkPoint. Without a doubt, ThinkPoint is a scam. Don't fall victim to this bogus security program. If you have already purchased it then you should contact your credit card company and dispute the charges. Please note that this rogue program may come bundled with Trojans that can download and install additional malware onto your computer. So, you should remove the rogue program as soon as possible. And, of course, it's always a good idea to scan the computer with at least trow anti-malware programs. By the way, your pictures, music and other files should be safe. ThinkPoint doesn't delete files. It's just a very annoying program. Last, but not least, if you have any questions or additional information about this virus, please leave a comment. Good luck and be safe online!
ThinkPoint removal instructions: 1. Restart your computer. Once the ThinkPoint window comes press Ctrl+Alt+Delete or Ctrl+Shift+Escape. You should now see the Windows Task Manager screen as shown in the image below. Click on the Processes tab. Then click and highlight hotfix.exe and click End Task. If it asks you "Are you sure you want to terminate the process?" click yes. This will close the ThinkPoint program. 2. While in Windows Task Manager, click the File -> "New Task (Run...)" from the menu on the bottom right. Type in explorer.exe and click OK. Your desktop and icons should start up as normal. NOTE: if you got an error message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them", then please run this command first: cacls "C:\Windows\explorer.exe" /G Everyone:F A new windows will come up asking "Are you sure?" Type Y and press enter. Now run explorer.exe again. 3. Download the following file to your Desktop: windows-shell.reg. Double-click to run it. Click "Yes" when it asks if you want to add the information to the registry. This file will fix the Windows Shell entry. This step is important because if you won't fix this entry, then your Windows Desktop will not be displayed the next time you reboot. Once the new registry value has been added, you can delete the file from your computer. 4. Run Internet Explorer or any other browser and download free anti-malware software below: Run a full system scan and remove ThinkPoint from your computer. NOTE: in some cases the rogue program may block anti-malware software. Before saving the selected program onto your computer, you may have to rename the installer to iexplore.exe or winlogon.exe With all of these tools, if running Windows 7 or Vista they MUST be run as administrator. 5. New threats appear every day. In order to protect your PC from such (new) infections we strongly recommend you to use ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.

New email worm
Sunday Sep 12, 2010
Sunday Sep 12, 2010
New email worm on the move Virus Logo Several anti-virus vendors are warning of a new email worm that's rapidly spreading throughout the internet. The new fast-moving virus, referred to as the "Here you have" virus because of the email subject line it uses, reportedly has multiple variants and includes links to supposed movies and an online document ("This is The Document I told you about, you can find it Here"). While the links included in the emails appear to lead to a downloadable Windows Media Video (WMV) file and a PDF document, they are actually disguised executable files (.scr). Once downloaded, double clicking the files installs the W32/VBMania@MM / WORM_MEYLME.B worm. After being installed into the Windows directory as CSRSS.EXE, the worm then sends itself to all of the recipients in a victim's address book. According to security specialist Trend Micro, it then installs a backdoor and attempts to disable and delete various virus scanners and security applications. A number of AV vendors have already released updated signatures that recognise the pest and block it from infecting a user's system. More recently, virus writers have been attempting to spread their pests using vulnerabilities in web browsers and plug-ins. Because attacks via email haven't been as well publicised, or seemingly as effective, as they have been in the past, a resurgence in the use of email to spread worms and viruses could be in the cards. While applications can now use various exploit protection mechanisms, like Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and Address Space Layout Randomisation (ASLR), a number of third-party applications are not. According to security experts like Charlie Miller and Dino Dai Zovi, however, it's still becoming increasingly difficult to exploit traditional security holes. However, as reported yesterday, a new zero day vulnerability in Adobe Reader and Acrobat is already being exploited by attackers to infect Windows systems.
